FAQ

HOI TATTOO FAQ

  • Cosmetic tattooing, also known as semi-permanent makeup or micropigmentation, enhances facial features by implanting color pigments beneath the skin using sterile, disposable needles. This technique can mimic hair strokes, add color to lips, or accentuate natural brows and other facial features.

  • Nano Brows, or Nano Hair Strokes, is an advanced cosmetic tattooing technique that uses an ultra-fine needle to implant pigment with precision. This method creates hair-like strokes that blend seamlessly with real brows for a fuller, natural appearance. Nano Brows offer a longer-lasting, more realistic look compared to traditional eyebrow tattooing or microblading, ideal for clients with sparse brows or those looking to minimize daily makeup.

Benefits of Nano Brows: • Hyper-realistic hair-like strokes
    • Suitable for all skin types, including oily skin
    • Minimal fading and longer-lasting results
    • Great for filling sparse brows or camouflaging scars

  • All appointments are scheduled through our online booking system at least 1.5 months in advance. A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your appointment and will be applied to the total cost. If you need to reschedule, please contact us at info@hoitattoo.com or call 403-813-8083. Note: Missed or canceled appointments will forfeit the deposit.

  • Cosmetic tattooing is ideal for enhancing brow shape, adding fullness, and creating symmetry. Whether your brows are sparse or you’re seeking a polished look, cosmetic tattooing can help.

    Benefits include:
    • Full, natural-looking brows
    • Waterproof and sweat-resistant
    • Camouflage for sparse areas or scars
    • Semi-permanent, allowing adjustments over time

  • Pre-Appointment Preparation:
    • Stop using skin thinners (e.g., vitamin A, glycolic acids) 2 weeks before
    • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen) 48 hours prior
    • Avoid sun exposure/tanning for 30 days before and after
    • Complete any eyebrow waxing, tinting, or Botox treatments prior

    Appointment Day:

    • Consultation & Design (30 min): We’ll work with you to design the ideal shape for your features. Bring reference photos if you have specific ideas.

    • Numbing (30 min): A topical anesthetic is applied before and during the session to ensure comfort.

    • Tattooing (60-120 min): Your artist will carefully apply pigment to create the desired natural look.

    Healing and Aftercare:
Healing generally takes 6-8 weeks. During the first 2 weeks, you may notice mild peeling and darkening, which will soften as healing progresses. Visit our Aftercare page for more details.

  • Results depend on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Once fully healed (after 6 weeks), expect the color to soften by 30-50%. Any patchiness or adjustments can be addressed during the second session.

  • Most clients benefit from two sessions to perfect their look. Touch-ups are typically scheduled 2-3 months after the first visit. While clients with fuller brows may need fewer touch-ups, those with sparse or previously tattooed brows may require additional sessions.

  • Cosmetic tattoos are semi-permanent, lasting 1-2 years. Scalp micropigmentation may last longer. Longevity depends on factors like pigment color, sun exposure, and skincare habits. Results vary individually, and touch-ups are recommended.

  • We use a 5% lidocaine numbing ointment before and during the procedure for maximum comfort. Most clients describe the sensation as similar to eyebrow threading or light scratching, though sensitivity varies.

  • For safety reasons, HOI Tattoo does not tattoo clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant and have an appointment scheduled, please contact us to reschedule.

  • We do not tattoo clients currently on Accutane, as it may lead to hypersensitivity and scarring. A 12-month waiting period after stopping Accutane is required for safe skin recovery.

  • Results may vary based on skin type or other conditions:
Oily Skin: Hair strokes may heal with a softer, powdery look due to oil production.
Sparse Brow Hair: Tattoos may appear more two-dimensional on clients with minimal natural hair.
Frequent Smoking: Pigment may fade more quickly.
Iron Deficiency: May cause faster fading and bruising during the process.

Note: If you have existing brow tattoos, please submit photos before booking. Some cases may require removal before starting.

  • We assess your skin’s undertones to anticipate fading, using pigments that blend with your natural coloring. Tattoos typically lighten over time; a touch-up every 1-2 years is recommended for best results.
